12 of 12 August 2009

Another month has flown by! Can't believe the summer is almost over! We had so much rain, maybe we will get a Indian summer this year?

This month's 12 of 12 (created by Chad Darnell) is all about the Fair. We took Ethan to the Wayne County Fair to see all the animals. It was fun to see his reaction to everything.

All the food vendors, so much junk food, my stomach hurt thinking of it.

I love bumper cars

What's a fair without a Ferris Wheel?

Ethan loved all the animals
this young man was great, he told us all about goats and let Ethan get in the pen so he could pet one.

The 4H kids showing their sheep

Beautiful, gentle draft horse.
how cute is this chick?
This turkey was beautiful.
A "lose your lunch" ride

The counting pony, she got every math problem right!!

Thanks for stopping in for my 12's this month.

12 of 12 July 2009

Oh it was a glorious day for this month's 12's. Don't know what 12 of 12 is? Then visit Chad Darnell's blog and get the 411. While you're there check out some of the 12's from people all over the world.

To celebrate the fact that it was NOT raining today, I had to get Ethan outside for some vitamin D. I decided that we would talk a hike around Shuman's Point which is located on Lake Wallenpaupack.

First, Ethan asked for a bath. I had to oblige

All of Ethan's favorite bath toys

Black Eyed Susan in my wildflower garden

Hiking at Shuman's Point on Lake Wallenpaupack

Stone walls that go right into the lake, because Wallenpaupack is man made and there used to be a town down there.

Here's a view on the old wall and you can see, it goes right into the lake.

We took a break on one of the outlet beaches and ate some blueberries

Praise be to the good weather gods!

My date for lunch, he's so cute I guess I'll excuse the fact he eats with his hands.

After the hike I was invited to take a tour of one of the Arts Alliance member's garden. These pictures don't even do these gardens justice. They were breathtakingly beautiful.

Everything was terraced.

The coolest mailbox I've ever seen!

Thanks again for stopping by and checking out my 12's

Adventures in Vermont

I was finally able to get back to my home state of Vermont to visit family and friends this past week. My family has not seen the baby since this time last year, and some of my family had not even met him yet.

I had lots on my agenda, so many people I wanted to visit and places I wanted to go with only a week to do it in.

First stop was the Rutland County Farmer's Market to pick up some fresh food and fixin's for my stay. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this market has grown substantially since I lived there. There were so many wonderful vendors, it was hard to not spend all my cash. I discovered that you can use your credit or debit card to purchase $5 tokens that were good at any of the food vendors, brilliant idea!

My first purchase was some marinara sauce and sesame salad dressing from Bob and Irene Gordon and their Gordon's Pond Products. Irene makes these products from their home, the ingredient label even includes LOVE. Ethan especially loved the salad dressing and enjoyed dipping his veggies into it.

As I was walking around a sign caught my eye and I knew I had to stop at this booth! FILTHY FARM GIRL made me stop dead in my tracks! I had to stop in. A very warm young man named Richard was manning the booth and was very helpful in answering the questions I had about Filthy Farm Girl and how it came to be. The company is 100% Eco friendly, packaging is made from 100 percent post-consumer recycled paper by Greenline Paper. They even carry soap for your pooch: Filthy Farm Dog "Muddy Puppy".

If you are ever in Central Vermont on a Saturday make sure you check out the Rutland County Farmers Market, a gem in the heart of the city.

12 of 12

That time again, at least I'm getting in here to post my 12's. Thanks to everyone for the helpful hints on making the photo uploading process less of a headache.

In case you're new to 12's it is the brainchild of Chad Darnell (click on his name and it will take you to his blog) It's a photo diary of a day in your life. 12 photos on the 12Th of each month. Check out his blog and you can see 12's from around the World.

Again, mine are a bit heavy on the gardening, but tis the season! :)

6:00 am: Me and Ethan's new SIGG water bottles.

6:10 Daddy leaving for work, Ethan looks sleepy

10:08: I started my workout at 5:00 but Ethan woke up just as I was starting so it was postponed.

12:30: A peek mid-day in the garden, it was a bit bright so I decided to go back later

5:30: Dinner time! Made a clean eating taco salad. Ethan is eating the ground turkey with tomato sauce and garlic, he loved it!

6:10: Winston chillaxin in his crate. He's got kidney stones again so he isn't feeling well. :(

7:10: Garden shots; Salvia with Iris in the background.

7:13: Stock is in bloom! I love the way these smell. The plates I collect and instead of them sitting around taking up room I've been lining the walkway with them.

7:17: My birdbath, the frog was a gift from my co-workers when I left.

7:20: First Lupine blooming, I love these flowers! I can't wait until this area is covered with them. Next year should be good.

7:25: the front walkway to porch. Everything is so huge now I'm probably going to have to move this in the next year or two.
Well there you go! Another month of 12's. thanks for stopping in to take a peek.

12 of 12

Sadly I have not been posting my 12 of 12's here the last few months. I have done them, I just find it difficult to download the pictures and get them in blog format quickly.

If this is your first time visiting my blog and are wondering what "12 of 12" is, check out the creator Chad Darnell's blog read the rules and check out some of the other blogger from around the World doing it.

This month, since it's the beginning of gardening season, my 12's have a garden theme.

I was accepted into the Penn State Master Gardener's program, today was my first day so here's my cooler of Clean Eating food for the day:

On my way out the door I realized my porch is still in disarray because I had to sweep and wash it to get it ready for the summer. I'll have to put everything away tomorrow.
At class I receive my manual for the course, it's really thick!
Coming home I had to get a picture of the apple tree blossoms
It's early in the season but things are coming along nicely, I only have 3 tulips left thanks to the moles.
Heading around the corner to the meandering, shady, path .
The view when you turn the corner
Garden "junk" (my treasures)
View on the way back, things are coming along nice.
Lemon balm....smells SO good!
Addition this year, I've got put something in it.
Daddy took care of Ethan all day, or what I call "bad habit day" I came home to this; pajamas still on (backwards I might add), dirty and messy. Oh well, they had fun!

Thanks for checking out my 12's this month!
